Lincoln Cathedral Connected Secures Second Round HLF Funding

Mather & Co has helped Lincoln Cathedral to secure both its first and subsequently its second round Heritage Lottery funding. Thanks to the generous support of the HLF (£11.4million funding) the ambitious £16million Lincoln Cathedral project is now officially underway.

“We can officially begin the task of improving physical and intellectual access to Lincoln Cathedral, its stories and its collections, providing many more opportunities for interactivity and learning for its key audiences,” explains Chris Mather, chief executive, Mather & Co. “We will also help bring to life designs for a new building to house classrooms and an exhibition space as well as overseeing conservation work in terms of renovations to the cathedral’s existing architecture.”

With a dedicated exhibition space as part of the new Lincoln Cathedral Connected project visitors can follow the full history of the building from its early Saxon history to the cathedral today and its future plans. Key exhibits bring to life the colours, sights and sound of the cathedral during service to help create a wider understanding of the building as a living church and place of worship.
