Monday 8th March 2021 marks International Women’s Day and the theme this year is choose to challenge – from challenge comes change!
We pride ourselves on the strong female presence within our team at all levels of the company – this was acknowledged by one of our clients, The Pankhurst Centre – and we continue to strive for an equal workplace for all people.
Mather & Co are honoured to be currently working on a new exhibition at The Pankhurst Centre, which tells the story of the Pankhurst family who formed the WSPU from their home in Manchester and fought for the right for women to vote. The Pankhurst Centre is not just an iconic site of our past, but also of our present and future. The Centre continues to fight for women’s rights today by offering confidential advice and support to victims of domestic abuse, continuing the path that the Suffragettes made.
Incredible women’s stories and achievements will continue to be actively celebrated across all of our projects. From amazing female academics at Aberystwyth University to pioneering scientists and archaeologists at Ipswich Museum to ground-breaking sportspeople across sporting heritage projects, there is plenty to shine a light on. Let’s celebrate women and equality and choose to challenge, not just today, but every day!
Happy International Women’s Day!
