Chelsea FC Museum
Chelsea Football Club has opened its brand new museum at Stamford Bridge ahead of the forthcoming season, following completion of a major redesign project by Mather & Co.
The original museum has moved from within the club’s stadium to a new dedicated 670m² space behind the Matthew Harding Stand but, more significantly, the new facility uses a host of state-of-the-art, interactive features to take fans on a journey through more than 100 years of Chelsea history.
Following a competitive design pitch, Mather & Co was brought in two years ago, based on its highly successful track record designing museums and attractions within the sports sector, and its original work on a temporary museum and corporate space at Stamford Bridge in 2008. On this latest project it has set out to create interactive exhibits, user-friendly touch screens and pioneering audio-visual shows that will appeal not just to Chelsea fans but to football supporters of all ages and affiliation.
Heavily influenced by the historical culture of Chelsea FC and with many of the exhibit contents suggested directly by the fans themselves, Mather & Co has developed a world class football museum that sits alongside the new club shop and the popular stadium tours to further enhance the Stamford Bridge visitor experience.
