Mather & Co teamed up with operating group Continuum and ITV to transform the original Coronation Street studios and set into an engaging behind-the-scenes tour. For a limited time, visitors had the unique opportunity to walk down the famous cobbles of the nation’s street, have their picture taken at the bar of the Rovers Return and take a tour of the former Manchester sets.
Our work involved pulling together the vision and narrative for the tour alongside Continuum and all aspects of spatial planning and internal layout of the sets, props and visitor routing. This included scripting development with Coronation Street writers, the development of emotive audio-visual installations as well as detailing showcase displays for some of the many props and costumes from over 50 years of the show. With the help of trained tour guides, visitors became members of the crew as they got an access-all-areas pass to sets, production rooms, wardrobe and finally, the famous street.
